Since the early Alliance was a trans-denominational movement, A. B. Simpson kept the focus on Jesus Christ. Namely, His biblical, non-negotiable, essential identities: Saviour, Healer, Sanctifier, and Coming King. This is masterfully laid out in his seminal work, The Fourfold Gospel. The belief of these fourfold identities of Jesus Christ is the quintessential qualification for membership in the Alliance movement.
The Cross typifies Jesus Christ our Saviour. He died on a cross for our sins, and only through him can we be made right with God (John 3:16)
The Pitcher symbolizes Jesus Christ our Healer. It speaks of oil for divine life and physical healing (Isaiah 53:4-5).
The Laver illustrates Jesus Christ as our Sanctifier. The laver, a large basin used in God’s temple for washing, represents cleansing from sin by the power of the Holy Spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24).
The Crown stands for Jesus Christ our Coming King. He will come back to this earth and reign forever (Acts 1:11).
